The launcher verifies the release signature and every file's SHA-256 before it installs anything. This page only shows what the update channel currently offers.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime (included in Windows 11).
  • A legal copy of GTA V (the original edition, GTA5.exe), build 1.0.3889.0.
  • Bought on Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam or Epic Games Store. A Steam copy needs Steam running and signed in.
  • A few hundred megabytes of free space for next:mp and its caches.

GTA V Enhanced is not supported. When Rockstar updates the game, next:mp needs a compatibility update; the launcher tells you which side is out of date.

Install

  1. 1

    Install

Run the installer for your Windows account. If downloading the portable archive, extract it into its own folder. Keep the files together.

  2. 2

    Start nextmp.exe

The small window checks the files and updates them. On the first start it asks where GTA V is installed.

  3. 3

    Pick a server

Choose a server in Servers, Favorites or Recent, or enter an address in Direct connect. The game starts only then.

Troubleshooting

The launcher says this GTA V build is not supported
If your game is newer, Rockstar has updated it: keep it and update next:mp when a release supports the new build. If it is older, update the game through your store.
The launcher reports damaged or missing files
Press Repair. Antivirus software sometimes removes nextmp-client.dll; add the next:mp folder to its exceptions if it happens again.
GTA V starts but next:mp does not appear
Restart the Rockstar Games Launcher (and Steam or Epic), start story mode once, then try again from nextmp.exe. Antivirus software is a common cause; if it repeats, create a diagnostics file in the launcher.
