Privacy
What the official next:mp services receive, what they keep, and what you share with the servers you join.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts, fonts or images.
- Your language choice is kept in your own browser (local storage) and never sent anywhere.
- Live sections ask this same site for the server list, the news feed, release information and service status.
- The web server can keep ordinary access logs (IP address, time, page, browser) for security and operations, for a limited time set by the operator.
The public server list
- A server that turns on
announcepublishes its address and ports, name, description, mode, language, region, tags, player counts, slot limit, protocol, server version and whether it has a password. Anyone can read that list; that is its purpose. - The list does not receive player names or any data about players beyond the counts a server reports.
- Requests are rate-limited per IP address; the addresses are kept in memory for that purpose and in the service log.
The launcher
- It downloads the server list, the news feed and signed updates. Updates come from a content delivery network (Cloudflare), which receives your IP address like any web request.
- To show ping, it sends a small UDP query to each listed server's game port, so those servers see your IP address before you join.
- It sends no telemetry and uploads no crash reports. Diagnostics files are created on your PC and shared only if you send them.
- Settings, favourites, recent servers, caches and logs stay in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\next:mp. - If Discord is running and Show what I play is on (Settings), the game shows your current server in your Discord status. Turn it off and the client does not connect to Discord at all.
The servers you join
Game servers are run by their owners, under their own policies. When you join one, it receives:
- the name you choose, your IP address, and the player name GTA V reports;
- a legacy machine fingerprint derived from your Windows installation (it is declared by the client and not proof of anything);
- if the server asks: a device key proof — a signature from a key kept on your PC (in its TPM when available) — and a device id that is different on every server; reset it with
nextmp.exe --reset-device-identity; - an integrity report: whether your next:mp files match the signed release, the GTA V build, whether a debugger is attached, signs of changes to next:mp's own code, and counts of loaded modules by kind — never their names or paths;
- your Discord account id, only if a server asks to sign you in with Discord and you approve it on Discord's own page;
- your position, actions, chat and voice while you play, as the game requires.
