Common error messages

Every launcher stop has a code. The buttons it offers are the safe next step.

Launcher

Code	What happened	What to do
GAME_NOT_FOUND	The chosen folder has no GTA V installation.	Choose the folder that contains GTA5.exe.
GAME_VERSION_UNSUPPORTED	This GTA V build is not the one this release supports.	Newer game: wait for an next:mp update. Older game: update it through your store.
GAME_START_TIMEOUT	The game did not appear in time.	Restart the Rockstar Games Launcher (and Steam or Epic), start story mode once, retry.
PLATFORM_START_FAILED	Steam or the Epic Games Launcher did not start or sign in.	Start it yourself, sign in, retry.
INJECTION_FAILED	next:mp could not be loaded into the game.	Retry, then repair. Antivirus software is a common cause.
CLIENT_FILE_MISSING	A file is missing next to the launcher.	Repair; if it disappears again, add the folder to the antivirus exceptions.
INSTALL_DAMAGED	Files do not match the signed release record.	Repair (needs the update service).
UPDATE_REFUSED	An update was rejected as not genuine.	Do not bypass it. Report it with a diagnostics file.
LAUNCHER_TOO_OLD	The current release needs a newer launcher.	Reinstall from Download.
CLIENT_NOT_STARTED	GTA V closed before next:mp reported its start inside the game.	Repair, retry, send the logs.
CLIENT_TOO_OLD	The server runs a newer next:mp.	Check for updates in the launcher.
SERVER_TOO_OLD	The server runs an older next:mp.	Nothing on your side: the server owner has to update.

Joining a server

Reason	Meaning	What to do
password	Wrong or missing password.	Enter the password again.
full	No free slots.	Try again later.
protocol	Client and server speak different protocol versions.	Update the side that is older. The server browser says which.
unreachable	The server did not answer.	Check the address and your connection.
SERVER_IDENTITY_MISMATCH	The server at this address presents a different key than before.	Ask the owner whether the server moved or was reinstalled before you trust it.
CLIENT_COMPONENT_MODIFIED	The server requires intact next:mp files and yours differ from the signed release.	Repair the installation in the launcher.
UNSUPPORTED_GAME_BUILD	The server requires the supported GTA V build.	See supported builds.

Downloading a server's resources

Reason	Meaning	What to do
network	The download failed or was interrupted.	Check your connection and reconnect.
checksum	A file arrived damaged.	Reconnect to download it again.
disk-full	Not enough disk space for the cache.	Free some space and reconnect.
cache-corrupt	The cache could not be written or opened.	Clear the cache in the launcher settings and reconnect.
server-fault, too-large	The server sent something invalid or too large.	Tell the server owner.
